THE LIDO
The Venice Lido is a thin isle measuring 12 kilometers in length. The buildings of the entire isle are in Art Nouveau style. The Lido also hosts a casino and the Cinema’s Palace, where every year takes place an important film festival, famous to assign the “Golden Lion” to the winners of different categories.
The Lido has been the residence or simply a destination of a large number of poets and writers, such as Thomas Mann and George Gordon Byron.
The isle is renowned because of its golden beaches and its clean and calm water. Very suggestive are the seafront, divided in “Seafront D’Annunzio” and “Seafront Marconi”. It seems like a tunnel shaped by cluster pines.
You can reach the Lido by steamboats, steamers, ferry boats and motorboats or using the little airport, where there is also a heliport. The most important and beautiful harbors are those of Saint Mary Elizabeth and Saint Nicolò.
